Levanto is a country with ancient origins, located between the sea and a picturesque valley whose ridges covered in forests, olive trees, and vineyards constitute a magnificent landscape. Its valley meets the sea at the Mesco promontory, which is part of the Cinque Terre National Park. The beauty of the sea beds has made the stretch of sea in front of the promontory the heart of the Cinque Terre Marine Reserve. On the surrounding hills are small villages that have preserved their ancient colors, small settlements, mills, chapels and sanctuaries hidden among the lush vegetation. Levanto has long been a famous tourist destination, visited every year by many tourists attracted by the crystal clear sea and the possibility of visiting the nearby Cinque Terre National Park, which also offers great attractions for trekking enthusiasts. It is in fact possible to start from Levanto and cross a wonderful seaside path, partly shaded, to reach Monterosso, passing through Punta Mesco, where the remains of an ancient monastery can still be seen, from which you can enjoy an excellent view of both coasts that overlook the sea.
